The Cloud Testing Service has the following features:
| Service Feature | Professional | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| You can choose to test your scripts using any of the following browsers. The default browser is set on a per project basis, which will then be used for standard manual and scheduled tests. You can run a test in any browser using the Cross Browser function (see below). | ||
Microsoft Internet Explorer - 6, 7 & 8. |
Mozilla Firefox - 3 & 3.5. |
Opera - 9.6. |
Google Chrome - 5.0. |
Apple Safari - 3.2 & 4.0. |
| The following testing frameworks are supported. | ||
Support for scripts captured using Selenium IDE, or written using standard Selenium commands. |
| Test Scripts or Scripts are at the core of your testing. They contain steps which tell the browser what to click on, what to type into entry fields, and how to navigate through your user journey, as well as what to check for on the page that is returned. | ||
Scripts captured using Selenium IDE can be imported into the Functional Testing service. We support the HTML table format. |
Scripts can be created from scratch using the intuitive editor. The commands to be run are chosen from a drop-down list. Parameters such as which link to click, what the title should be etc., can be simply typed in. |
Existing scripts can be edited, steps inserted and parameters changed. |
Snippets are parts of scripts that can be added to the start or end of existing scripts, for example to log in or out. This allows code re-use, and if the details change, you only have to edit in one place. |
Scripts can be exported in a standard HTML table format for use in other tools such as Selenium IDE. |
| Once uploaded or created, scripts can be run from the portal, subject to available credits. | ||
Users can run manual tests from the portal at any time (assuming their user has access). |
| Manual Test Frequency The frequency that manual tests can be run from the portal. |
Unlimited | Unlimited |
Tests can be scheduled to run within an hour window, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. |
| Max Scheduled Frequency Scheduled tests can be requested in an hour window. They will be performed at sometime during that hour. |
Once per hour | Once per hour |
To facilitate regression tests, tests for a number of scripts can be manually started together. They are all linked using a reference and description which can be used for tracking purposes, or to link with external systems. |
To check cross browser compatibility, a single script can be tested in multiple browsers at the same time. The results for each step can be compared against each other. |
Test runs are performed on one of our public Cloud Agents. These are situated on the internet and can run tests against any publicly accessible website. |
Test runs can be performed on a Private Agent. Private Agents can be located within your infrastructure to enable them to access internal server and development machines without the need for firewall access. |

| To aid testing and debugging, the following information is captured and stored for each step that has interaction with the web server. This can be viewed within the results portal. | ||
Screenshots of the entire browser window captured and stored. If the web page is larger than the window, it is scrolled down to capture the whole page. A thumbnail is displayed, which can be clicked on to view the full high-res screenshot. If required this option can be disabled on a per-script basis. Extra screenshot step commands can also be added as required, for example to check mouse over text. |
The HTML is captured and stored where relevant, i.e. steps that result in interaction with the web server. If required this option can be disabled on a per-script basis. |
Details of the components that make up a page are captured and stored for diagnostics. This includes the size of the component, the offset start time and download time. |
The HTTP request and response headers for components that make up a page are captured and stored for diagnostics. |
| The following reports are available within the results portal. Access to the reports can be tailored on a per-User basis by editing their permissions. | ||
An overview of the status of the project, including the result of the latest test run for each script. |
View the latest test runs, and results for each script within the project. |
View all the test runs for a script. |
View the detailed step by step results for an individual run. |
View which scripts you have queued to be run, or cancel them. |
Viewing all the scripts that have been run as part of a Group Run allows the user to view their website at a point in time. All the results are marked with the same reference meaning you can use them as a baseline or regression test to compare against. |
After the same script has been run in multiple browsers, this report allows the user to compare how the same step looks in different browsers. |
| The following groupware features allow users to work collaboratively speeding up the development lifecycle. | ||
Tags allow a user to mark individual test results for later viewing or action. They are stored on a per user basis. |
Notes can be added, edited or deleted by any authorised user for an individual test result. They are used to share information between users about test results or reasons for failures/differences. |
Receive a regular status email for all of your projects and scripts. |
